Default WW2 Canvas pouches - Melbourne

Just got back from The Auto Surplus Pty Ltd relocation sale in Melbourne. only a couple of Khaki items in it but there were two NOS blackout lights and a box of 30 of these canvas pouches amongst the more mundane stuff.

I am not sure what they are for but they look like they could be a vehicle map pouch with the pockets for pencils in the top flap. They have a nice brass swivel hook at the top also.

All are stamped with 1944 on them. Selling at $5 each so even if it is not for a vehicle it is a nice piece of WW2 canvas for the price of a coffee or two.

Even at $5 I don't think they were walking off the shelf so there should be plenty left for those that may want one.

If anyone could shed some light on what they are it would be most helpful.

Cheers

Default Seen before......

....at military shows in Canada. These map cases when available fetch around $50+ depending on conditions.

If you where not so far and shipping not so expensive you could make some nice pocket change at $5 each.

Default Map cases

Hi Bob,

Thanks for that information.

I can imagine a rush to Auto Surplus this week by Melbourne based restorers!

Anyway, glad to pass the info on. Hope many others can take advantage of it.

Brgds,
