| 41 Ford F15a CMP

Found this truck in the back 40 of one of the local haywires. Bought it for $700, drove it home the same day with 2 flat tires and the box tied down with a rope. It took 3 hrs to go 4 kms, totally worth the drive. That was about 10 years ago, I finally brought it home, from my parents farm, in October. Now comes the fun part the re and re...

Welcome on MLU We use here our real names ;-) Just a few thoughts on your Blitz: - A Ford-Cab (or at least a badge) and a straight 6 engine. That doesn't fit. The Ford's used V8. - The Cab is a No 13, so most likely your Blitz isn't from 1941 or the original cab was replaced sometimes. Greetings from Switzerland Chris

The rear ends are both Ford as are the shock absorbers. The motor is a 1960s Chev 230 inline six. The box has a US military look to it. The 13 cab makes it 1942 or newer. I'd say it's a Ford with the Chev engine replacing the flattie and a US box, but it's a CMP and that's what really counts!

Well, most Aussie-MLUers know me in person and my pics showing myself from several trips to Down Under are spread all over MLU and I'm one of the stars on the "Year of the Blitz II" DVD and you'll probably see me next year in Canada, Blitz & Carrier spotting. So I'd guess I'm pretty well known here Where are your pics, Alex Greetings The only Swiss Chris in Switzerland

The truck is a Ford and the previous owner put the Chev motor in it in the early 70's and junked the flathead. He was the one that told me it was a '41. Progress is going to get real slow as I have no shop/shed to work in and it started to snow today... And it is in rough shape as the previous owner used it as a log skidder. Thanks for correcting me on the year, I'm just winging it on this truck.

I was wrong about the box. When I saw the rear pic I could tell it's a 1B1 off a 1941 Cab 12 8cwt. That will make good trading material for you. Here's a forum member who needs one.

What box is the proper one that should be on the truck. If I do trade the box off it will have to be for another box for the truck.

Well hows that for slow progress. Finally got my but in gear and pulled the cab off today. Might actually get the motor out next week. This truck is rough, the frame has a bunch of hole made by a cutting torch, notches cut out of 2 of the cross members, the rear cross member is almost pulled right in two and bunch of extra stuff welded onto the frame rails. So this has changed from a resto to a rebuild for offroad/mud truck. I hope I dont offend anyone by doing this but... theres not a whole lot of the original truck to work with. I'll post some pictures of the progress later this week. Thanks, Rob

If there's not alot left of the original truck you could always use it for spares and buy yourself a second one.

I agree with Ryan but it is your truck and it is so hacked about that whatever you do you are not ruining a good original vehicle. Good luck with whatever you do
