Default What POL tin did I buy???

I bought this the other day at a swap meet.
W- 6"
D- 5"
H- 11"
made by GSW, 1942
Has a C with arrow in it pressed on the top ( I am assuming it is Canadian)
The word 'OIL' painted on the side.

I am hoping it suits a CMP truck as I do not have this type of tin for my Chev.

Your thoughts?

It's a standard 1 gallon Oil can. Standard kit for pretty much any Canadian Army vehicle. They are not as common as the 2 gallon ones. I bought a Cnd made one out of Austrailia years ago for my carrier.

GSW refers to the manufacturer...General Steel Wares, a prolific producer of Canadian war-time materiel.

Some still refer to this type of container container as a "flimsie", which was a one-time use metal can containing vehicle petrol. When you say "flimsie", pretty well everyone knows what you mean since any original flimsies would have had the the top ripped off, contents poured, and the can discarded.
