Well after a few days away I returned home with a very welcome addition to my collection along with some spare parts I gathered up on the way.
I have posted some pics on another forum so thought I would share them with our fellow collectors over the Ponds ! Its a little Model 1934 French 25mm Anti-Tank Gun Built by Hotchkiss Paris. I know over in the states these guns are quite common but here in the UK there are only a couple but what makes this particular one unique is that it is from the British contract to supply the BEF for the invasion of France. I bought it from a company who have had it in there possesion since 1946 and in turn bought it from the War Department. The gun is in very good order and in a live firing state so I had to enter it onto my firearms license althought I dont fire any of my Artillery its still nice to 'drop the Block' and take a look up the Barrel. Nice gun.
What irony...your government has basically disarmed you of small arms yet you legally possess a gun capable of live fire! Bloody politicians.

Going back to Jon's point over here in the UK it really boiles down to the Local county firearms department whether a Section One firearms license is granted to an individual and depending on the county you live in makes a big difference.
I live in North Yorkshire and was one of the first up here to fight for and be granted a Section one license for live Artillery, but made it quite clear I had no intension to fire any weapons or hold any charges so that helped my plea a good deal. I have a good selection on de-activated Artillery but as you get into collecting the rarer breeds it really is a shame to chop them which was another one of my points when fighting for my license. At the moment half my collection are live the rest de-activated so a good mix,I have 20 pieces at present with a few more on the way. Guns don't Kill, people do ! Rob ,if you ever venture over here you are more than welcome to visit. Rob...............rnixartillery. Last edited by rnixartillery; 27-02-13 at 11:16. |

Agreed - I'm in the Thames Valley area - took a couple of years to get the licence... though mine does allow me to fire black powder blank. Yet a friend in the Bedfordshire area simply applied - using my licence as precedence and had his granted in a matter of weeks. I looked at moving another area - they've just said... when you get here, let us know and we'll pop around to inspect everything. In the Thames Valley area, having anything prior to inspection is a definite no. Storage and security requirements also vary depending where you are. So... very much luck depending where you live and that area's interpretation of the law it seems. Sounds like you have a great collection - do you have a 75mm Pack Howitzer? Do you have any open days? Cheers Tim |

Hanno,
I have given up on the vehicle side of things now, although I have a Morris Quad and an F60 LAAT buried in the barn. Just collecting Artillery now and even that is keeping me busy ! Rob..................rnixartillery. Last edited by rnixartillery; 27-07-19 at 20:59. |

Given the area you are in Rob, it isn't one of the old UNITED bus group recovery trucks is it? I remember the NEMVC getting four of them back in the distant mists of time - in fact I remember seeing one sitting in Darlington bus station.
