I hope this will be the right place to put this request, over the years of collecting military vehicle photos, data etc one item that slipped through was the set of Canadian military vehicle profiles produced by the late Bill Gregg. Although at the time i was in contact with Bill on a reqular basis and obtained the books but not the profiles, now are they still available anywhere or are they as i suspect like rocking horse**** i do have a set of photo copies but the quality is suspect the other item i suppose i will have to consider would be the price these days anyway enough said lets see if there is any response

Hi Les,
In August of this year Dirk Leegwater was also looking for Gregg's "Profiles" in this thread: http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...&threadid=6712 Brian |

Dr Gregg sent me a signed copy of his Profiles as well as the last copy he had of the Data book (although he said it was damaged, I could not fauly it). It is one of my most treasured possessions.
My copy is # 929 of 1000. Just let me know if I can help. Last edited by David_Hayward (RIP); 21-11-06 at 00:40. |

...Put on your seatbelt for this. Carol Gregg just sold her house.
She had a book seller from Acton in and sold him 10 Profiles books for $25 each. There were some Blueprint for Victory and the first Profiles made. Some Vehicle ident. books too. Don't you wish you went to see her??? Peter S |

I have fairly high resolution scans of the Profiles book (2 to 13 mb per page) if anybody wants a copy. It would be nice if somebody had a web page to put them on.

Les.
I could be mistaken about this, but I think the Profiles Set Bill Gregg produced was a very limited edition, unlike his other two books. The Profiles were all numbered and the first batch went to the Attendees at Bill's CMP Conference. The rest he used as special gifts and the sort. Maybe somebody in the OMVA can track down that book seller. David |

I beat a path to the seller and got one new leatherette profiles, one test run sample profiles, with Greggs ownership label and GOLD covers. And One second series of Canada's Fighting Vehicles with Gregg's large label inside with "Sample copy" typed on it.
He printed 1000 numbered books. Sold them for $65 each. Att'd is a print of his ad flyer with prices. Peter S The page is too large to load. They sold for $65 each. |

Good to know you were able to purchase a few items, Peter. Who knows where the rest will go.
Took a look at my copy and rediscovered the sticker on the inside cover. Mine is #82. My memory may be playing tricks on me, but do you recall if the Profiles came out as a finished set, or did Bill publish the sections over a period of time and mail them out to the purchasers? I have a nagging recollection of eagerly awaiting release of the sections over time, but that just might be the effects of last night's hangover! David |

There were four seperate mailings. The first had the covers.
All the rest thereafter were sold as complete books. The Profiles came in three covers. The leatherette, wire bound and a library hard cover set. Peter S |

The one I scanned was wire bound. It was volume 2.

Now I don't want to put a dampner on this, but scanning a book is a clear copyright violation unless you have the author or current copyright holder's prior permission to do so (no matter how rare or costly an original might be).
Copyright does not expire for, I think, 50 years. Mike C |
