Hi Folk, I am scratch building an F60L cab 12 in 1/35 scale and have done the basic chassis to the stage shown in the following pics. I have made this from measurements given by some of you guys and I would like your opinion on it at this stage and before I go further.
I still have a lot to do but it will be easier changing things at this stage so I honestly would like you guys to put me right on any mistakes, bearing in mind it is a model and the crossmembers and chassis rails are solid for strength. If this is right I will make a second one to be used for masters for a full resin kit release of this overlooked vehicle. ![]() Pic 1 top view pic 2 side view pic 3 bottom view |

Good work, Cliff! The tapered section where the frame rails narrow in is a more gentle taper rather a sharp bend. You might be able to fill the outer face with putty to give a more gradual line. As for the turn down at the front, this is far too pronounced. The top edge of the frame rails is nearly level all the way along.
I'll try to get some pics of a bare chassis to give you an idea of the overall perspective. Did you get a good look at the 12 cab at Kingaroy? |

yes I did get a good look but as there were no 'bare' chassis there that I recognised and being to ill to crawl under one I missed having a decent look.
I had a feeling from other pics that I may have it to sharp at the front and this is why I left it at the stage it is to double check. Some pics of a bare frame would be appreciated and I thank you for your opinion and help in correcting this. Thanks Cliff PS> I was very tempted to buy one of the better cab 12 Fords there but due to my condition managed to resist the erge. ![]() |
