Guys,
I've attached a picture of vehicle plate that is mounted on the division plate directly behind the driver. The upper hull # matches but someone took a cutting torch to the ends of the angle iron reinforcement at the rear of the carrier. All that remains of the lower hull # is 0 C. Would someone out there be able to give me an educated guess on the following: The lower hull # ending in 0? The CT number for this UC-1*? Did this carrier go overseas? Thanks in advance.

Hi Richard.
Is the front armour plate the instrument panel mounts to still there? David |

Hi David,
I wish it was there. I am using fabricated replacement armour so I am not able to determine the CT and the exact fabrication date of my UC-1*. Regards, Richard

Richard.
It was a long shot, but I had to ask. One thing to consider regarding that heavy vertical strip of carrier armour in front of the driver is it's usefulness to the average civvie carrier owner. There is very little about it overall that has not been drilled or milled. It usually disappears from the carrier to make for better visibility and easier access. I know of at least two carriers found here in Manitoba over the years where the new owner backtracked to the chap it was bought from and the person who owned it prior to that and they were able to recover the missing armour. Sometimes the old owner thinks they tossed it years ago, but it is lying forgotten in the grass somewhere. Might be worth investigating, just in case. If you already made a deal for the carrier, the old owner knows you and where you are coming from and if you can trace back to the previous owner, you have a foot in the door with them as well because you can connect with the owner in between the two of you. Not a perfect system, but fits well into the old proverb of not leaving any stones unturned. Good luck with the project, David |

Hello Bruce,
Thank you very much for the information regarding your UC-1*. I think that it would be a logical estimation to assume that my UC-1* would have a CT112753 designation. At least it is chronologically close. If you have a moment, could you tell me the difference between your upper and lower hull #'s? I will use this approximation to "guess" at my lower hull#. Unfortunately, the owners of my carrier - 2nd owner back - were the Martin brothers from Buckslide Road in Ontario, near Canarvon. All of them have passed on and their property stripped. The previous owner got started on the restoration but had no idea on the where a bouts of the missing frontal armour. Regards, Richard
