Default Not much of a project.

Hanno,

That truck is not much of a resto project, as all of the hard work is done already ( with the Ford engine out of it ).

It just needs a 216, a lick of paint, then it will be better than new!

This must be the 'up North' parts run that Bob and Rob have planned for the weekend - just a quick trip over the pole for some CMP grabbing.

Default Say what...???

....what are you talking about......

.......... not that far North..... but the Ottawa Rotters will be sniffing some potential new rust this weekend......

.... and I agree with you on the beat up ol' CMP...... only thing good are those tires that would look good on a Chebby..... ever notice how the tires on old Ford are never worn out..... can never get them started to go anywhere...

Stay tuned.

I di not get into HMVF. It seems my computer is having some problems with that, and don't ask me what the problem is.....

And the Ford I think is "new" to me...
Who is the seller?

And could it be a FGT?? It sure looks like a very short one.

BTW: HAve a look at my new norwegian forum at: http://rolfsask.proboards80.com/index.cgi

Although that would set the North American/European road trip record for a CMP recovery, your record Stewart, seems safe - at the moment.

As for being a Ford - I wouldn't turn my nose up at it.

I'll post some photos of our trip - if we actually recover anything...

Default Ever notice...

...how Chevy drivers talk A LOT , must be 'cause the Ford drivers are out purring along to the sweet sound of a flathead eight, the Chebbies can only wish for.

The article in this link: http://www.rb.no/bil/article3568476.ece shows some pictures of HMV's in deep storage in some army facility in Norway, including a Chevrolet CMP.

The article is from the Defence Museum nearby Oslo. Or the storage they have.
And as all of you know, Norway have no money so they can not make a proper museum for all the goodies they have...
The storage is full of many very interesting vehicles that you seldom see.
Both allied and German.

I have found generally that because the chevs dont break down as much we have a lot more time to talk and not have to spend so much time fixing or rebuilding

What about all that crude oil Norway sucks out of the North sea !

I don't know who this chap is. Is he trying to communicate with that Blitz? He has his hands out in a soothing or begging gesture, maybe he is praying to the Blitz god "please, please start for me" ..... I know, I have to get out more .

Mike

Mike, I think he´s just pointing out the beauty of a Cab 13. . . . meanwhile he´s wishing it was a Ford. . .

Guys,
A good freind of mine sent me these pictures of unrestored Ford and Chevrolets trucks in Norway, after his recent visit there. What strikes me is the amazing condition of them, considering they are living outside. The Chev water bowser is really nice. It would be nice to see someone from Norway save them
Enjoy

Default Norway

A noninternet-involved collector here in Canada has a very complete CMP wrecker truck that came out of Norway. The story goes that the ferry ship changed destinations and arrived in the US rather than Canada. So the driver/escort needed "cash" to make his way home. The owner sent him the money and he drove the truck a thousand miles versus a few dozen miles.

I think this photo on HMVF is not very recent, but it's a nice C60L sitting in a scrap yard....

Lovely project!
Unfortunatelly this vehicle will not be saved any more. The back body was used as a donor to another C60 project. The rest was disassembled and stored, however the frame alongside with axles were stolen from a private property by junk metall collectors and probably ended up in a crapyard for some lousy beer cash What a pitty, but at least the cab and other small parts can be used to keep other projects alive.

Ah yes, I now see it's the one Erik had for sale. Possibly the picture above was taken at his place?

Definately a pity, but good to hear that at least some parts of the truck will be used again.
