Would anyone know where I can get a 6 Volt battery group 2, that will fit in my 43 Ford GPW please. The one I have is pooched and it has no makers mark on it other than a #2. Thank you.

In Ontario, go to any farm supply or TSC store. Only they will normally have the larger correct Group 2. All the auto supply houses like NAPA and Carquest have consolidated to a single product; the smaller group 1 size. ... Brian

Hi mate,
Give your local Caterpillar dealer a call and see if they have 8C-3629. It's a group 2 and by what I hear fits perfectly. I jus went and got one here today in Sydney. $140.89 + tax, but that's Aussie dollars. I've only ever heard great things about them and with 780 cca (cold cranking amps) they have some punch! Being Cat, I can only assume its good but time will tell. http://pdf.cat.com/cda/files/3049510/7/PEHJ0073-02.pdf Number 2 in the truck/agricultural/industrial on page 3. Looks pretty good too, just a plain black battery, 3 caps, pos/neg terminal. Now to get myself a 6 volt bettery tender and hopefully a solar panel to run it so this one doesn't die a slow and sulfated plates death like my last battery! Cheers, Ian.
