Dear Ladies and Gents,
I am turning out to be the facilitator and organiser of a recovery of a dead BV206 in the area described above. We lack one essential item, a vehicle capable of travel on snow and able to tow a 4 ton load on tracks. Does anyone know of an individual or company or organisation who might have a machine in the area for hire with an operator. In an ideal world it would have a pintle or receiver hitch at the rear. I am 100% serious and there are dollars to pay a machine rental charge for the day. It is a very mundane 25 km trek in over an established trail, turn around, attach tow device, select neutral in BV and haul her out. Please chime in with suggestions. We have missed the window for this weekend, so friday 7th or Saturday 8th are looking favourite now. Regards Robin Craig |

Robin, sounds like you need the services of a skidder or even a dozer.
There are many companies in that area that could probably help out. Check for listings under logging in the area Yellow Pages. One company that comes to mind is in Sturgeon Falls, Sturgeon Brush and Contracting. They do work all over the north between Sault and North Bay.

Almost any construction company will have experience and equipment to get their equipment to the job site. The dead of winter might find most of their machines sitting in the yard costing the company money. Same advice to find one as above. Be prepared with the dimensions and weight of the BV so they know what the job requires.

The Bv206 in question belongs to a friend who has a cottage up that way. He and I have been friends for a number of years.
He suffered a catastrophic engine failure 25 km in the bush on a well established trail area. It is a simple recovery with the use of the vehicle specific A frame that I am in the throes of finishing. It was designed for such an event and makes the casualty vehicle a wholly controlled towed load and does it very safely and well. I have received via PM a phone number for Angus and will contact him. If I go, I will take many pictures, but honestly aside from furnishing the A frame, I don't need to go, I have other projects of a higher priority. Thanks to all R |

Just got off the phone with Angus.
Funnily enough he rode with me at Coe Hill in our BV206 on the trail ride. I didn't get his name at the time but he knew who I was as soon as I called. Obviously I made an impression ![]() Splendid gent, still no intentions of getting a computer but loves to chat on the phone. He has engaged. Many thanks all R |
