Hi Ian,
Great photo of your Uncle. I believe rob is correct in this being a 6 pounder. An Ex Artillery Officer once corrected me when I called one of these an Artillery piece. His correction was quite colourful but instructive. "The Army use those, they are an anti tank guns". |

Hi Ian,
Thanks for posting this photo! I still need to manufacture the steel T bar handles and now see for the first time they are not identical. The manual does not show or tell that. The one on the right has a ring as a stopper for the T tube on the other one and you put a pin through the hole just visible behind the ring so it won't slide out. The left one has no stop ring but only two pin holes that seem to correspond distance wise with the width of the holes for the T bar sliding through the wavy handles. There are two big holes just behind the trail lock on both trail legs for the tube to go through. Thanks again! Cheers,

I guess that we can forgive your uncle because he is only Infantry. If he was Artillery he would be committing a very big no-no. In an Artillery unit the guns are the Regimental Colours and standing with your foot on the regimental colours will get you a hand spike across the teeth.

I don't know if I would want to be the one to try, he was a short little guy but tough as nails. After fighting through Italy with the Hasty P's he was transferred to reinforce the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry's in time to land on Juno. He passed away a few years ago at 98.
