7:00 pm The Hamilton Volunteer Cavalry Unit, of the Canadian Great War Society Presents, Guest Speaker, ANDY ROBERTSHAW World War One research and history expert, primary historical consultant for Steven Spielberg's film WAR HORSE Mr. Robertshaw will be speaking about WW1 history. He will be speaking about his work experiences during the making of the film War Horse. He will also speak about how the horses were trained for the film and what role horses played throughout WW1. Don't miss out on this entertaining and educational presentation. Tickets are only $10 per person and can be purchased through the contacts listed below. Please bring any WW1 family photos, small WW1 artifacts or medals. Mr. Robertshaw will very likely be able to provide historical facts about the items that may have not been known. Mr. Robertshaw will speak from 7pm to 8pm then will take any questions about the film or WW1. The club uses their own horses and follows historical Canadian Cavalry training manuals. The club is new to Hamilton but has performed at Hamilton's Dundurn Castle and Niagara's Fort George. The members are known as "Living History Riders" and perform WW1 demonstrations on Cavalry Troop Drill. The club uses WW1 uniforms, weapons and other equipment. The goal of the club is to educate the public about WW1, the Canadian Cavalry, and specifically how Hamilton Soldiers helped defend Canada. The Hamilton Volunteer Cavalry members are proud Canadians that respect the courage, sacrifice, and loyalty of our past and present Soldiers.
