looking for a source of the light green cotton canvas that was used for the camp chairs and officer's sleeping bags and cots. Also used for the waterproof shroud for the BESAs on AFVs.
I have a bad photocopy of a publication showing the three views and measurements for the BESA cover, and it calls fo the Lt. Green Berkmeryer's cloth as the fabric. An initial google search turned up it was a Scottish firm with closed down in the 50 with only an Australian site still in business. Now can't seem to pull it up on search. Seems the wartime Dingos used this fabric for the seats, not the later leather we see now. All those were added post war and that is what we see on ex-MOD Dingos from the 70s. Trying to find a source for the fabric.... Any leads??? |

It seems that Berkmeyer's is a water prooffing system..... a substance applied to/for canvas (tent) and not a fabric by itself.
