Default Vehicle Code

Is there a list of the different vehicle codes, including cab codes, chassis codes and body codes?

Default Canadian Codes

So what am I bid
I have a 23 page document from the Department of Munitions and Supply, Automotive Production Branch, Directorate of Engineering. The document is emtitled "Vehicle Nomenclature, Codes and Serial Numbers" and gives the complete breakdown of body, cab, chassis and vehicle codes. In addition it explains how the plates were to be marked and where they were to be placed, e.g. "For such vehicles as are shipped in partly-knocked down condition, with the cab unmounted, the plate, together with the attaching stock, will be inserted in a cotton bag and securely wired to the accelerator pedal. Attaching holes will be provided in the cab."
Rather than mail copies to everyone I will make this into a pdf file and ask Sunray to post on-line as a downloadable file.
In the meantime I will look up individual codes as requested.

I haven't seen a definitive list, although as you may have seen I've been compiling the list of Australian WO numbers applied by GM-H to locally built CMPs. WO is short for "Canadian War Office" which is how Holdens referred to CMPs. Ford Australia did not use WO in their nomenclature.

Default Census codes

Dave Prince of Brisbane has put together a list of the Australian Army's CMP types census codes here .These census codes are not to be confused with WD census numbers, but are the code number for that vehicle/body combination. They were applied not just to CMP's, but also to any other vehicle and sometimes trailers (CMP's, Jeeps, GMC's, Studebakers, Land Rovers, Inter ACCO's , etc)

These codes may be unique to the Australian Army, or perhaps there is a commonality with the Canadian codes?

Default Nomenclature

That's a great list; If I actually had this plate,

I'd now know I could stamp 1467 in the right place.

Default Model type

It is interesting, Keith, that the model is listed as F.A.T., this should be the vehicle type, ie FGT or CGT.
