Kim:
Surely you are not driving an M38 in Winnipeg at this time of year?

I used to drive mine right through the winter, but that was when I was on private's pay back in the early 80s. I also had a Stewart Warner Southwind heater mounted inside the jeep. You could tune up those heaters so the combustion chamber glowed red.

Default grill blanket

If the roads are dry I'll take it out for a run.
Had it out Xmas day.
Remember we have that "dry" cold here...

Rob's favorite MB Surplus Store at one time had a large cardboard box full of NOS Grill and Hood Covers, either in the back of the main store or across the road in the white shed.

The Princess Surplus Store on Panet Road had all the NOS Mounting Hardware you could hope for, but no idea what it was for at the time. Rob might know if any of the covers are still around. I have not been up that way for years.

None in the main store nor the old white loading dock. Been thru both of those pretty good. There is some Jeep canvas in the back of the store which I have not perused yet.....perhaps in the spring.

Kim: Just do like the soldiers do and put some cardboard between the grill and the rad. But don't do like one soldier I saw once who ran nails through the rad to secure the carbboard.

You were getting married

All I got was those two oversized cutaway guns, the Bren gun carrier radiator sockets, the Inglis cleaning rods, the Cno7 loop attachments, the FNC1 cleaning kits, the two 60mm mortar barrels.....the list goes on and on. Hey, you got what you wanted and I got some of what I want. Lets just say we both won.

Thinking about it some more and it was the main store.

If you hugged the left wall walking in the door you ended up in a long isle filled with military clothing back in the day. About 2/3's way down the big box was on the floor. If you worked your way passed it I think you ended up in the rear Southeast corner of the building which was full of electronics/wireless odds and ends.

Kim,

I bought the arctic hood and grill blankets for the M151 off Ebay.

They go for a reasonable price in the US.

I then trimmed to fit my GPW.

Warm engine, somewhat warm feet and good looks .

Nobody could tel the difference.

I'll try to take a picture tomorrow after my New Year Day CMP drive.

Cheers.

Lot's of them flying around.
