Can anyone confirm one way or the other, that the Standard Camouflage Colour No. 15 Olive Drab (BS 987C - 1942) is the same as No. 298 Olive Drab (BS 381 - 1930) ?

hi Richard,
I wasn't aware of a Olive Drab from the BSC 381 1930 chart . Mike Starmer doesn't mention it anywhere in his writings . For colour selection , I always try to find a sample of the factory paint under clamps and brackets . I have found Mike Starmers work to be very good , the Light bronze green 22 AKA G5 found on my CS8's , matched perfectly with his recommended Humbrol equivalent . ![]() |

Mike,
Thanks.......The Olive Drab on BS 381 1931 chart is, as I mentioned, 298 and for about 20+ years I have been ordering it from the various military paint suppliers. It is just that a query has been raised over SCC No. 15 Olive Drab which I tend to think is one and the same colour, as British Standards were unlikely to have named two shades with the same name. I also have a very old tin of 298 cellulose paint which came from a military establishment so it proves its use. Will keep looking ! regards, Richard |
