Just found a great picture of some softskins in action, place RAF Llandwrog, North Wales. It shows I believe their Mountain Rescue team setting off on a "shout", not sure WW11 or post as this base was used till late 50s early 60s?
Any one identify the ambulance top right? Paul |

I'm unsure about the ambulance on the right - it could be an Albion AM463. The one on the left is, of course, a Humber FWD. There is more of this series here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/820212...7631193109630/

Thanks Alan and there is more info on RAF Llandwrog in a great book called Anglesey and Gwynedd the War Years I bought when I was last in the UK 2012. They look cold in the old woolen clothing.

How long after the end of the war did it take for British Military vehicles to lose their blackout lighting?
