Greetings All,
A friend of mine here on the west coast is in the final stages of a major frame-up overhaul of his Chev CMP C-15A 15Cwt Truck (No. 13 Cab), and is now ready to apply the correct markings on the vehicle. This vehicle is currently on Vancouver Island, where we believe it was based during the Second World War, with an Army unit near Comox, BC (which now home to an active RCAF Station). The owner has confirmed that at during the war, all of western Canada was under Pacific 9Army) Command, with the 6th Cdn Division in charge of this sector, it was comprised of several infantry, artillery, and other units, including the Veterans Guards of Canada, which was used to guard vulnerable points and military installations. The Veterans Guards of Canada (VGC) were also used back east to guard POW bases. We have been unable to confirm if the VGC would have Provost Corps or Quartermaster (QM) units as an integral part of their composition. Would any one be able to help us with Divisional and Unit Arm-of-Service markings for this vehicle? The War Department registration number (now "CFR") that was found under old paint is Z56-646. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Chris Preston, Victoria, BC, Canada |
