Rolling Steel 2017 - KTR 45 years

This year's edition of the Rolling Steel Event was combined with the 45th anniversary of Keep Them Rolling. The event lasted from Thursday 7 till Monday 11 September.

I participated from Friday till Sunday, and had the pleasure to meet several MLU members, like Stefan Leegwater, Jaap de Wit, Alex van de Wetering, Hendrik van Oorspronk, and met many new people as well. Although hampered by lots of rain, it was a succesfull event with approx. 550 WW2 vehicles and 1,100 people present.

Regular 95 octane petrol is EUR 1,62, but can be had for prices around EUR 0,10 cheaper. My truck runs approx 4 kilometers on 1 litre....

The petrol companies must have noted a peak in their sales around this weekend with >500 gas-guzzling WW2 trucks driving hundreds of kilometers!

Regular gas peaked over C$1.20 ten days ago during Hurricane Irma. Premium which is what I pump into the HMV was over C$1.40. Diesel was flat around a dollar.

With hobbies like target shooting the more powerful long range cartridges I joke, 'You're not shooting a .338 Lapua Magnum. You're shooting $10 bills.'
