As per the announcement I just posted across all subforums, my friend Don died this morning of inoperable cancer. He could be an irascible SOB at times, but we understood each other (two peas in a pod?) and I'll miss him. I'll post funeral details etc as I have them.
You may use this thread to remember him, but please, nothing nasty (he can't reply). Cheers, Don. I dunno where you are tonight, but by god, you're not forgotten.

...roads crumble , fields go to seed at the end of the last day its the connections we make with others that really count. Don , irascible he may have been, obviously was significant enough to have made a dent in Mr. Winningtons skull and leave an impression ,and that is enough of a resume for me to raise a pint to him and put him in the plus column. Here's to you Don, may you find joy and challenge on the next level.

...the bugger still owes me a 52 set. But, all accounts close with the demise of such as Don "Sherman-guy" Smith.

I am advised this morning that Don's remains were cremated and a private service held by family. Donations to Toronto Grace Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society in his name were requested in lieu of any other formal acknowledgement of his passing (in particular, he told me he was impressed as hell with the treatment he received at the hospital).
What he was shall remain within each of us who knew him, and at the end of the day, I guess that's really what matters. ![]()
