Not the best quality, but some screen grabs from CANADIAN Army Newsreel no.65
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...ature=emb_logo BOMBER lll. BOOT HILL ll. From a discussion on another forum, Tom Kaszas determines these are from from Lord Strathcona's Horse. Any idea why they used B nicknames, as these would normally be the vehicles in the recce troop of RHQ. Also, the number 21 in the tactical diamond marking does not match the series as set out here: regards, Jack |

Another still from the same film. The AoS 45 is from an Armoured recce Regiment and not from LsDH. If 5th CAD then it's GGHG.

It looks like the film was made in March 1945 just after the 1st Canadian Corps moved from Italy to NWE. The Armoured Regiments had just received the Stuart VI (M5A1) to replace the turretless Stuart V (M3A3) so the markings may be old left from the previous owners. The Americans started to receive the M24 Chaffee in late 1944 to replace their M5s.

Apparently there is a town named Boot Hill in Alberta. This, together with the earlier sequence of a Sherman being re-tracked indicating these both are South Alberta Regiment.
