Hi all,
Brought this in Tamworth few weeks back got it dropped off at a mates property there. I'll attach a few pictures, the engine number TR3767868 and a couple tags with Holden on them but they hard to read off the picture. I'm up in NT working but will head back Coonabarabran in April go pick it up. I looked in the AWM ARN Books but so far haven't found the engine number but gone very close! AWM ARN Book Vol 14 page 62/63 ARN 76436 TR3767867 ARN 76459 TR3767871 ARN 76467 TR3767870 ARN 76479 TR3767869 Learnt the books in no particular order and number can be a singular entry in other volumes, maybe even ex RAAF or RAN so no record. Anyone understand what the codes on the Holden tag in picture is? or anything else to add about the truck. |

There should be a assembly date code on the Holden tag .
As an example: On my 1940 Chev. A0 = Jan. 1940. The letter refers to the month and the number is the year. C1 = March 1941. They (GM-H) sometimes used DLX = Dulux as the colour code prefix. Looks like your colour is BRCS or BRGS ? Some of the Holden colours for 1940: Wirraway Blue Coolangatta Cream Oodnadatta Beige Bundaberg Beige This has more info: https://www.hcvc.com.au/forum/OldTru...wledge?start=0 My neighbour down the road is from Coonabarabran.

Mike,
I most likely will get to see it better once I get home screw the Holden Tag off and clean it up but tag on left looks like after colour its got BRC S and under that DK CCB . The Holden tag to right has like B?649 than maybe C0 at bottom. Few too many layers of paint at the moment. Like I said home in April so can figure more out than but any sort of a head start now gets me started. |

The colour codes are listed in Norm Darwin's book on Holden. As a example PRT RD = port red.
I've seen on a GM-H assembled ex-military 1941 Chevrolet truck , the colour tag on the firewall stamped KHK GRN = khaki green. I purchased the vehicle in 1981 in Orange NSW for $50, a 1 Ton ex-army Chev, it had the script '1941 Van 1 TON GS ' on the cowl . I flat towed the truck to a yard next to a relatives residence South of Orange , unfortunately the little truck was vandalised and stripped bare, somebody stole the axles, and the 17" wheels., it was a was a wreck by the time I got back there some years later, sitting on the ground . Very sad , when I found it, it was in nice original condition , somebody had fitted a wooden tray replacing the original wartime GM-H built ute style tub On that same trip I also salvaged a British WOT2 H 15 cwt truck , it was free , It sat next to the Chev in the yard , both of these trucks I flat towed them some 30km to the yard with my 1946 Dodge ute. The brakes on both trucks were ok , up down hills, my 15 year old nephew steering . The WOT2 ended up in the hands of a well-known collector in NSW ,it was pictured in a edition of W&T magazine. My neighbour down the road is from Coonabarabran he's told me stories of using ex army vehicles on farms .

Mike what I thought was BRC S is BRGS like you said above so Burges Paint. I'm guessing under that the DK is for DARK and looks like SCT (or SCL maybe SC upside down stamped 1) Ill post a picture on a Holden site and see what I get.
