Default Whose tank?

Just saw the ironically named rock group Billy Talent arrive at Much Music Video Awards atop a Sherman. Nice shot on the CP newswire - idly wondering whose tank that would be.

Was there a name visible on the side, and was the show in Toronto?

The show was in Toronto- I wasn't watching in TV, only saw the still shot - here's video of it:

Looks like a Firefly gun, suspension is different from earlier M4s - has red over yellow corps patch right rear, letter markings over the star on the side, B A R T (?) census number 78-904

A spry looking fellow in black beret and battledress and a trim white beard seems to have been the vehicle commander.

OK, "BART" belongs to the Ontario Regiment museum (also known as the Ferret Club) out at Oshawa airport. They rent stuff out from time-to-time to help make ends meet.

Thanks, question answered - did some checking and find that suspension (HVSS) was introduced on the M4A3E8 version ( i.e. Sherman IVC, which would have the 17-pounder), strictly speaking, not a retrofit Firefly.

Hope the guys got some good $$ for taking part in the nonsense.

This one's an M4A2E8 with 76mm gun, the only type which saw service in Canada. In Korea, our guys had the 'A3E8 because they swiped them from the Yanks, but they didn't come back to Canada, though.

I can't remember BART's build date, but another friend has an 'A2E8 which was built in August '45, also still running.

Yeah, imagine soiling the inside of a perfectly good tank with [shiver] rock musicians...

Todays National Post, entertainment section features a pic of same event with fellow enthusiast Frank Moore crewing the Sherman.
