Default red / white switch

If someone has the time could you educate me on the use of the "red white" swithbox located rear drivers side in the frame of my F15a GS.

I just put it through the sandblaster last night and will be installing it in the next couple of days.

Default Switch

The "white" position was for convoy driving in blackout conditions. It disabled the side/tail and brake lights and switched on the light on the diff so the following driver had a reference. The back of the differential (right hand side) was painted white for that reason. Chevs usually had the whole rear banjo plate painted white, but sometimes this was only a small patch.
The red position was for normal driving.

Hope this helps.

On Fords, the Red/White switch ONLY operates the tail light/diff light changeover. The brake lights are isolated by a switch on the dash.
Chevs are a similar set-up, but the switch is a "headlight dimmer foot switch" mounted on the chassis rail above the right-rear wheel.
