Default Things that aren't in the manual

I got to the point in removing the right rear spring where the C8A manual told me I should take off the spring, but the thing would not budge off the axle (or more precisely, the axle would not drop away from the spring), until I discovered that rather than simply a centre bolt through the leaves, the whole spring was actually impaled on a threaded stud fitted into the axle housing. Once it took the nut off, the spring lifted off quite easily, dropping off the two short 'helper' springs that aren't retained by the nibs.

So I'm supposing this is a feature unique to the '45 HUP 'staff car' with its different springs, or is this normal on CMPs, something the manual was never revised to describe.

There are various understandable anomalies from the C8A manual related to the 'staff car' - but I'm idly wondering how many inconsistencies in general turn up for all models.
