All,
I'm finishing up the restoration of my jeep, was hoping someone might know of the availability of the vehicle-mounted pick head and helve as found on Commonwealth vehicles. I'm not sure if it is the same as the infantry-carried pick, but if someone knows where I could find a war-dated example, that would be great. Figured this board would be the best place for it... Hey Tim,
Sportsmans Guide and IMA both advertise the picks and shovels on and off for fairly cheap prices. Seems they were running $19.95 each last time I saw one of the ads. Both companies have web sites which you can find doing a google search. The vehicle spade has the smaller head like the American-made version typically seen on jeeps but it doesn't have the swan neck on the shaft. The British/Canadian larger infantry version won't work on the normal jeep fittings. |
