Hi,
Do you mean by unit number the British/Canadian census number? If so, 4898 etc as quoted is according to my copy of the Chilwell numbers a Indian 741B motorcycle. Br, Rob British units had their vehicles registrered in a Army book AB 405 against a specific War Establishment. These registers seem all to have been destroyed when the units were dissolved at the end of the war. The vehicles themselves had an Army book AB 412 active service log book, and most of these have been thrown away when the vehicle came up for disposal or before then. So very difficult to trace the history of a vehicle! |

Hello
The vechile you have pictured is called the weasel. The Dukw was based on the 2-1/2 ton 6x6 Gmc chassie You could try the CMH type CMH in search the name or Center For Military History this is in the US. try referring to both sets numbers as FSN's seperately Patrick |
