Had this photo for a long while and recently informed it was a dennis. Could be right but i dont think Dennis produced any 4x4 i believe to be prototype wartime but possibly late1940s
your thoughts welcome Les |

This is a Dennis, taken at Goodwood in September. Note the similarity in cab etc. but the cab must surely have been to a standard design?

The one you have shown is a Dennis Max, I have just looked at an original photo of one, from the other side and the fuel tank profile is identical, also the radiator surround on the 4x4 one is the civilian pattern, and again found a pic of a 40/45 cwt civvy model on test prewar, certainly Dennis. I would say it was early wartime from the headlights and their masking. Richard |

Les,
Your 4x4 Dennis (?), is rather short in the wheelbase for a 3 tonner. Could it have been intended for the 30cwt class, along with the WOT8, or maybe a tipper? My guess is that Dennis, had been picked for other work and possibly were unable to produce quantities required. Just looked in the Census list and there are no 4x4 shown. Richard |

Hi guys
probably another cat amongst the pigeons first a standard Dennis Max as tested by W.V.E.E and another mystery from Dennis. This one has a radiator as was fitted to the Lancet coach a large batch which were operated by our local bus co East Kent from the mid 1930s to the 50s this truck has all the looks of a 4x4 but that could be a cross beam for the front axle the photo is not very clear at this point Les |

Could it be a prototype Thorneycroft Nubian ?
Hubs look similar shape and size, cab bodywork also looks similar in design. Small fuel tank behind cab nearside. |
