Default Here we go again....

Rob Clarke and I bringing home another one. This time a 1940 Chev.... what I beleive 1 ton pickup...... model 93-14..... David any suggestions????

Complete truck... original 216 and enclosed drive train.... plus 2 extra cabs and another set of axles. fenders, etc.... yeilding two civvy 40 instrument panels.....

Fascinated with a truck probably built along side my C15a.... plate ID seem to indicate built date of 09-30-40.........

Enjoy the photos.... Sorry for all the subsequent seperate entries.

First one.... grown boys playing in the snow..... Rob hard at work trying to line up the truck with trailer.... we used a 9000 winch double layer and could not break it from the ice.... finally the side pull and winch combination did the trick...... the rest skidded easy.

Default REar wheels....

clearly showing the ten lug nuts....... axle rim arrangement leads me to beleive the truck was a one ton pickup..... Data plate says GW loading of 8000 pounds.....

Default Conclusion......

Could not do it without the help of Rob Clarke... he provides motivation, instigation and great alibi for the wife.... and works for pennies.... see him picking up loose change off the trailer.......

My wife can't understand why HE keeps buying all that stuff!!!

Default Musta Been the Beer, Bob!

Now we all know that those are your new toys, Bob. My wife was somewhat bemused by your posting..."Another truck, eh, Rob?" she asked. Visions of a trip to the local jewelery store are dancing in her head. So, either you fess up to your bride, or you pony up for the new necklace for my bride.

This jewels for rusty truck program is getting outta hand! Guess I got no choice, buy gems or loose the trucks and the family jewels...

Default chevvy

Bob looks like you've taken on a good challenge with the chev. I was talking to Geoff before I sent the parts to you and he suggested I put in a few ford bits and pieces so your next project could be a ford vehicle. Have you worked out all the bits in your santa box yet?

It looks cold over there it is nearly 30 over here.

Max

Default Stranger still.....

I have since been contacted by a fellow Ebayer who wanted to know what I planned to do with the above truck and the spare parts.... also had a similar enquiry from a Los Angeles Chev collector....

It seems to be a rather rare double rear wheel pick up model and even more rare to have the original pickup box. Strangely the cab is heavily rusted but the box is remarkebly sound... dented but solid.

I little more research is required........

Any comments from Alex Blair or David Hayward???? was anything like this used in WWII...??? wonder what it would look like in OD....Hum!!!!!

I have already scouted many repro parts for fenders, headlights, grill, ect....

Note to Max..... I have not finished identifying all the bits and pieces....... let alone sort out the Chev from the Ford parts......
Will do that over beer with Rob during the lull between Xmas and New Year.....

All the Best guys!!!

Here is Bob's new truck on a warm day. Oh, no, sorry, that is a Holden built cab on it so it must be in Australia somewhere.

Default Roberts Chev

Here's a good example of a Chev with a Australian Cabin made by Holden. The Truck is owned by MLU Member Robert Farmer.

Picture taken at VP Day in Canberra, last August.

Default 9314

Bob did you ever PM me with the serial and engine numbers? A Model 9314 is a rare GMC equivalent of the Chevy 1314 1/2 ton pick-up delivery 113.5 inch wheelbase and the 224 cu. in. 30 hp 6-cylinder introduced in 1937 as the Pontiac/GMC engine derivative of the Chevy 216. A metric version was used by Opel pre-war.

The ambarrassing part is I took some not too good close up pictures of the truck tags and the two other spare cabs...... now I can't tell which is which.

I suspect the 93-14 is on one of the spare cab...... will need to go out to the field and after brushing off some ....snow take some new pictures of the truck tags...... first thing to go is the ,,,,geez I forgot already!!!!
