engine and gear box mounts

Hi Guys
Does any one have any leads on where I can buy the engine mounts, and the rear gear box mount for my carrier? I have located a good engine and gear box from a friend that I bought that old South australian carrier off twenty odd years ago the project is moving along nicely wheels are going away in a couple of weeks to be re rubbered,

Ron, see this recent thread for details on the engine mounts.
The rear gearbox mount uses the cast mounting foot from a Ford Truck, but the actual rubber mount is an LP2 specific bit. You could probably fabricate the angle steel bracket, but you will have to find someone to cast the rubber block. Failing that, you could just use a flat steel plate with two engine mounts.

Tony, I could well be wrong, and I know there are different "foot" mounts used in Ford commercial vehicles, but!... Is this particular foot mount not carrier specific?
With regards the rubber mount, I think I have seen them in two lengths, the carrier one being the short one. Is that correct?
... and what is the long one from?

Tony...Sorry I disagree with you this time....Although I am sure that this will not happen again.

The rubber block is a standard Ford Part p/n 01T-5089

However, the mount for the rear of the box is a carrier specific component.

The top and bottom plates for the rubber mount are also carrier specific, as are the fixtures.

It is listed in the Carrier parts book with a carrier part number, but the foot is the same as Ford part no 92Y-7085-B, from a 1939 1 ton ute.

Thanks for the lead in South Aust, Do you have a contact address for flatattack?, I managed to get a rear rubber mount today but not with the metal cover, its brand new dont know where the chap got it from, Also picked up an engine and gear box this morning,been quite a lucky day,

It won't be exactly the same Tony. There was a surplus of those mounts here in N.Z. I had a NOS one but traded it some years ago.

543/3 is nothing to do with the mount. It is (as it states) the plate that locks the two press fit shafts in the back of the g/box. It's about 60 mm long and about 3mm thick.
I dont know what
O1T-5101 is but somebody will be able to tell us what the 5101 relates to.
Maybe this is a good time to cover how Mr. Fords parts sysem works. Any takers?

Yeah I realised after I had posted that 543/3 wasn't the part that I thought it was, but thanks for explaining what it does.

There is, however, a bottom plate for 543/2, perhaps this is the Ford part 5101????.

As far as I know they just do the rubber / urethane block, but a quick email to Mike, the Proprietor, will tell you the answer.

Next question is what thread and diameter was used on the brake and steering rods, as I am going to replace all of mine as soon as possable

Generally speaking, all the fastener threads used on LP2/ 2A carriers are UNF until you get down below 1/4 dia. then the threads are BA.
I can't remember which size your linkages are, I think they are 3/8 UNF and 7/16 UNF
Back to the gearbox mount. I'm guessing that the two bolts (543/3) are passed up through the rubber mount, up through the clamp cover (543/2), and then up into the "foot mount".
Is there a flat plate the the two bolts (543/3) go through first?... and the clamp cover (543/2) bolts to the floor. Correct?.

Firstly, you will probably have to make the tophat section and bottom plate ( 543/2 and it's other half ( p/n unknown )), The ones on the SA Museum Carrier that I was involved in putting back together for Corowa 2005, Bob Moseley had had the tophat section re-fabricated not a hard job.

AS for the rods:

SP-520-4 ROD ASSY clutch pedal pull to front ( 3' 7½" long ), complete with two nuts 7/16" S.A.E .....( X 1 )

SP-521-1 ROD ASSY clutch pedal pull rear ( 3' 10" long ), complete with two nuts 7/16" S.A.E. ......( X 1 )

SP-522-4 ROD ASSY accelerator front ( 3' 7¼" long ), complete with two 0BA hex lock nuts. .....( X 1 )

SP-522-5 ROD ASSY accelerator rear ( 3' 5" long ), complete with two 0BA hex lock nuts. .....( X 1 )

SP-647-6 ROD ASSY cam pull ( 22½" long ), with welded nut ( one end ), locking nut other ½" hex S.A.E. .....( X 2 )

SP-659-4 ROD ASSY brake transverse ( one under gunners feet with guard ), with two hex nuts 7/16" S.A.E. .....( X 1 )

SP-636-5 ROD & COLLAR ASSY brake pull rear brake connecting ( 8' 2¾" long ) collar is welded to rod to fix dust excluder boot 636-14A .....( X 2 )

SP-649-13 ROD ASSY bell crank to bridle plate with two nuts 7/16" hex S.A.E. .....( X 2 )

Yeah I agree, there should be a flat plate in this assembly, when I posted the part diagrams I was mistaken in thinking 543/3 was the flat plate, but it ain't. As you pointed out.

Please forgive my hand drawn / computer drawn picture, but this is how the SA Museum Carrier #2340 rear engine mount went together. I can't remember if the two fixtures were joined or just on small pieces of plate.

However, once again I don't know what the part number is for the bottom plate, and am wondering if it is the last unused part number in the book 01T-5101. Perhaps Someone ( Tony ) could help us with this.

If Ron is still reading this the fixture assembly 543/3 consist of:

a bolt ( hex 5/8" S.A.E. x 2 7/8" ) Welded to a plate ( I don't have any dimension for this ), with a 5/8 flat washer, a slotted 5/8 in S.A.E. Nut and a 1/8" x 1 1/8" Split pin.

The tabs /plates welded to the bolts(543/4) are only there to stop the bolt turning when fitting/removing the nuts.

Is there any chance that you may have or can get the dimensions of the metal work that surrounds the rubber gear box mount, so that I can get it made up, I see that it is 11and a half inches long but I will need the height and width and thickness etc if you could measure one for me, I would appreciate it many thanks,
