Default 1050x16 tyres and more

One of the relevant facts in my decisionmaking on the possible purchase of a Dodge D-15:

Where would I get the appropriate banana type 1050x16 tyres, new (or almost new)?(I live in Austria.)
How much would they cost?

And: Is there anything specific to this truck that is likely to be broken/worn?
Gordon already helped me a great deal, maybe Matt knows more.
Sorry if my answer takes 1 or 2 days, have email only at workplace. Many thanks.

Default 10.50-16 tyres

Erwin,

It seems 10.50-16 tyres are available in a suitable - though not identical - pattern. See the thread 9.00-13 Tyres for more information.

Would you happen to be contemplating the purchase of that D15 offered for sale by Camo? Nice truck, I wouldn't let the non-availability of the extact tyre tread put you off from buying it!

Regards,
Hanno

Default D15 Tyres

Hi Erwin
I think the original tyres on D15's were 9.00-16.00.as Hanno says don't let tyres put you off but if you are thinking of buying the truck which Hanno mentions if I were you I would worry more about the switches on the dash.the originals are very hard to find, although the dials are the same as all closed cab Dodges so you can get those from the states.

Other questions I would ask the seller is does it have the original T222 engine, does he have the headlamp unit,is the windscreen frame sound,is the tailgate on the cargo body.all these parts if missing will be tough to find and cost££$$ to but unless you are very lucky! finally if you havn't already bought a D15 I do know where there is one in need of restoration but it's very complete and original and a LOT less money that the one in Austria.I was/am thinking of buying it myself but the cost of transporting it from Europe is somthing I'm still thiking about.email me off forum if you are interested.
Matt.

Hi Hanno and Matt.
Thanks for bothering.
Yes the Camo truck would be it, but the price tag is not reasonable and chances are dwindling.
I will elaborate off forum.
However: you helped me a lot, and if you have any further info you deem important on D-15 Dodges to know for a WC-52 driver, I´d be grateful, if you´d mail me.
Answer may take 2 days.
Snowy greetings!!

My friend in states Terry Johns tells me that Wallace Wade are within 20 tyres (may be less now) of placing an order for 10.50-16 chevron tyres. Minimum order is apparently 75.

Does anyone have any more details on tread pattern and cost?

I was under the impression that the last attempt to have any more made was stopped by the US Department of Transport who wanted the proposed tyres to be fully tested and type approved.
This made it prohibitivley expensive.

A lot of us last time put our names down via a contact on the Dodge web site. It would be interesting to know what is available this time.

Neil, see generating interest for ordering a batch of 10.50-16 directional tyres for a picture.

Are you going to handle distribution to European buyers?

Hanno

I assume from your reply you are saying we have heard it all before and don't believe it untill they actually appear.

Neil,

It don't believe it will happen if various people, each on their own, try to get these tyres manufactured and delivered.

Since various people are trying to achieve the same thing, I think it can happen if we realise this is the case and work on this together. I am not in the position to place an order for several dozen and handle the distribution, though I am happy to help people who are in that position by doing whatever I can.
