Default Wanted- FONT for AIF ARN.

Hi Everybody.

I know the specifics of the numbers (size, location etc) to be used for an ARN- thanks to Mike Cecil, i just dont know which type of font to use.

I`m after something that specifically charaterisises the style of the numbers- curves and angles etc. I would prefer to be able to make a stencil up.

Does anyone know a name, place, website or so on i can get the correct font as a vehicle would have been applied with at time of acceptance into the army- early/mid ww2- 1943.

Thankyou,
Ian.

more details.

Licensys P/L
We make custom number plates of all types for vehicle enthusiasts. We repro Australian Military Forces black n white plates as used on Series 2A and 3 Land-Rovers for use in parades ("ARN" plates). See pics of DM's 'Chloe'. They look good. The small "A.M.F." letters cannot be repro'd by us. Customers generally find some self-adhesive white letters as the answer. See website www.licensys.com or contact Laurice the graphic artist who does them there. ph 07 32717550

Thanks mate!

I did a bit of a search actually on the web for free fonts and nearly got a 100% match- its about 99%.

Using the AWM site jeep pics as a basis for what i am looking for and matching what i need to similar serial numbers around that which i am going to apply, i was able to find something VERY similar! Its interesting when you look at the fonts used, there are several on jeeps. A military stencil type, a solid letter type, a larger solid letter type (based on post war pics and marking scheme order) and a scroll/more decorative type with the ends/tails of the letter with a bubble type shape (post war pics).

I can email the font i managed to find if anyone wants.

I believe the difference in war time fonts is based on where or which vehicle park the ARN was applied at. Those who maybe had sign writers and those who didnt etc?

Thankyou though! Its handy to know though about those number plates. Would be good for a wide range of those vehicles- inters, landys, stude's etc!

Cheers,
Ian.
