When I was shaking the family tree this week I found this photo that my grandmother had. The WW1 soldier standing is her brother (who left Scotland for New Zealand) who served with the 6th (Manawatu) Mounted Rifles.

The soldier sitting is his cousin (who stayed in Scotland) who I believe served with "B" Squadron, Lovat's Scouts. B Squadron was raised at Lochmaddy, North Uist, Scotland where he lived.

What I found interesting was that both men are named Archibald MacDonald.
