Default Treat our soldiers right on their return.

The American people, finally realizing how disgraceful their treatment of Viet Nam vets upon their return to the States was, are attempting to ensure that mistake isn't repeated. At least in Texas anyway. Every aircraft landing at DFW airport with soldiers returning from Iraq is first met by two firetrucks that make an arch with their water cannons that the plane taxis through. That is only the beginning. When the soldiers deplane they are met with thunderous applause, hand shakes, back slaps, and U.S. flags from hundreds of people, mostly strangers who have given up their time to welcome the soldiers home. Further, the new terminal at DFW, Terminal D has a large private waiting room with a free concession stand solely for the enjoyment of soldiers in transit. I worked at Terminal D for three years and have seen these arrivals many times. Capt. Jimmie Vann, who orchestrates the receptions, is an acquaintance of mine and regularly sends out calls to the American Legions, V.F.W.s, and V.V.A.s and the general public for support. Is there a similar treatment for our troops returning to Canada? If not, there should be! Derek.
