Question Ganmain Blitz Muster 22-24 August 2008

This is a bit of a long story, so bear with me.
Here at Ganmain we uphold the dying tradition of staging an annual “show”. Northern Hemisphereians would call it a “fair”
Saturday, 23rd August 2008 is our Centenary Show, and being a committee member, I am one of many looking for special attractions to our Show. I intend to have my F15 ready before then, as does Tony with his F60L (Both ‘local’ trucks).
Now you know where I am heading…. Any interest in getting together for a Blitz Muster? Who among us MLU’ers are interested?
While considering, what can I do for you to make a visit to Ganmain more attractive/fun? Other than the obvious attractions of the show, and my brew, and Dad’s home made whiskey, what else would you like to see? Maybe a swap meet on Sunday?
All comments, Ideas & suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Howard

Default Convoy from Yass

Howard, theres gota be at least 10 vehicles here in Yass that should be able to make the journey, if we can still buy petrol in 2008!!! Maybe I should have asked the obviuos first, how far is Ganmain from Yass??

Robert

Anywhere to camp/stay? A property on the edge of town? A big empty shed in town?

Default Muster

OK, Will have to build a Blitz Ute then.

One of the benefits of beautiful Ganmain is it's relative proximity to Temora, around 45 minutes by car or 400 minutes by Blitz.

Exclamation Ganmain

Wow Fellas, this sounds encouraging.
Ganmain is about 200k from Yass. See map
about 400km from Lithgow, 250km from Corowa.
As for camping I have a half an acre beside the house in town, farm stays (or shed stays) can be arranged if you prefer.
See Ganmain link.
I reckon we'll still be able to buy fuel, just affording it might be the hard part. I wonder how a side-basher operates on Methanol/ethanol?
Looking foward
Feeling encouraged
Howard.
PS. Wow! My 100th post!

Smile Blitz Muster

Well this thread went quiet, so I did not worry about it. But conversation wit a few MLU’ers at Corowa rekindled the idea. A couple of members at least still seem keen, so “what say you”?
Refresh your memory here
I have spoken to a couple of potential sponsors, who seem willing to help.
I have also nutted out a rough schedule, but sponsorship & schedule all depend on numbers.
So my question is… Who is still keen?
I got an aus map & drew lines between these points: Adelaide, Melbourne, Albury, Yass, Sydney, Lithgow & Brisbane. We are very central to the southern points, but still willing to help at alternative venues.
Over to you...

Howard, I'm still keen for this, so don't put away the maps just yet!
I know you want to tack this onto the show in town for 2008, but is the Blitz invitation just limited to MLU participants? This could evolve into a regular calendar event for Blitz owners, in the same way as the Jeep Jamborees and the Land Rover get-togethers. It would sit well on the calendar, too, being the Spring counterpoint to Autumn's Corowa

Tony I was certainly not thinking of limiting it to MLU'ers. The more the merrier.
And yes, I would love to see it become an annual thing. However I would consider dropping it when the same years as Corowa YOTB's as I know how expensive it can get to attend these things.
Cheers

Still open to any other suggestions...

Post Another Idea

I was reading through the thread that started all of this here and cannot see why we can't make the venue of this event 'portable'. i.e, Ganmain '08, Yass '09, Lithgow '10
Just an idea.

Have you had some thought as to a sponsoring club for this event? I would make it for Blitzs only aloud to attend. Perhaps a free bag of your (Ganmain) famous chaf with every entry.

Thanks John & Fiona for your post, I missed it & have only just come across it now.
I have been working toward the 2008 event when I can, but I have a family menber who is quite unwell & it consumes quite a bit of my time. One sponsor has agreed 'in principal' to help out... Now this is not set in stone yet, but I have a fuel company interested in sponsoring the event by way of free fuel for those attending in a CMP. Now obviously there won't be enough fuel to fill everyone, but I reckon a good splash will help with the considerable costs of attending. A couple of others have indicated a willingness to help, but the fuel deal is by far the most generous to hand at this point.
I intend to enlist the help of a local car club for help, but haven't yet approached any of them (slack).
And, if you have a horse at home, we'll chuck some of the world's best chaff in the back of your truck before you go home.
Howard.

Talking Our Location..

For those who don't know where Ganmain is, see map below... This should be a good indicator to our European Brethren as to the effort required for, eg Keith & Ewan in Melbourne, Or Bob in Adelaide, to attend this event.
