Hey All
I am a new member here and am really liking the site, it's nice to see so many helpful people in one place. I have 2 CMP's that I am working on getting back to original condition, one came with 3 of the 4 tags it should have. The only tag that is missing is body tags that has some important info. I wa shoping someone could me with some of the history on the truck I have with the tags, the Vehicle Model Tag shows: C-15441-M-CABL-2, now from the original 1942 MB-C1 manual I have, I was able to figure out what most of that info means, the only thing I am unsure of is the CABL- does this mean Cable Layer? The important Tag shows the Serial number as 2844415992, and the order number is LV. 316, vehicle built on June 5, 1942. If anyone has info reagrding this truck or could tell me how to get the info, I would be very gratefull. I know I have a heck of a project on my hands as I plan to get both trucks, (unfortunatly both are just Cab and Chassis) and 2 Universal Carriers, (sans Armour) back to thier original glory. I know this site is going to be a greta help for me. Oh, almost forgot, if anyone knows where to get the OD green paint in Canada that would be awesome, I went to a supply store here and was told that 3 Gallons of paint, 2 gallons of Primer and some activator would cost over 3000, I almost pooped my pants. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great to hear from you Gary and welcome to MLU.
I'm sure one of the more erudite Canadian members will be able to enlighten you as to the CABL-1 designation. As for paint you'll find mostly you'll be looking for shades of khaki rather than the US OD.

Mike Tymoshyk in Windsor, Ont has found a paint supplier that makes a very authentic finish. Perhaps Mike could chip in here and offer a contact for the company, and if they have a West Coast agant? |

Hey All
I thought I would post a few pics of my trucks, the first one, (the blue one) came with a LOT of missing parts, no dash, no serial plates or anything, I was told that the previous owner was going to make a mud bogger out of it, hence the huge tires.

This is the second truck I got, it looks like an c60 however the tags say it is a c15 cable layer, i has several missing parts as well but does have more detailed items that are missing from my first truck. If anyone knows anything about the markings, I would love to hear it.
Thanks ![]()

I hate to be a pest, but does anyone know how to get info about the truck based on the serial number or the order number, it would be nice to know some of the history of one of these trucks.
Thanks Gary ![]()

You are not being a pest, I had missed the thread when it started. First to determine if you have a C60S or C60L measure the wheel base 134 it is a C60Short if it is 158 then it is a C60Long. This of course presupposes the chassis has not been lengthened or shortened. Looking at your pictures I would say that it is a C60S as it doesn't have the intermediate drive shaft bearing support. Now as to information search based on data plates, first you are luck as many many trucks have these plates been taken as souvenirs over the years. Which plates go with which trucks as that will help sort the information. I have a copy of the old INFOEX which I can check the engine serial numbers against to get an approximate date of construction to confirm the data plate. If the engine number matches the Data Plate then you are lucky as so many CMPs have had the engine replaced. Have you been able to find the serial number on the chassis yet? Cheers and please keep asking questions.

Hey Phil, where exactly would I find a serial on the chasis as the smaller truck has no plates at all and it would be nice to find some kind of number for it, also my engine is packed securily in a wooden box and wrapped in plastic, I will hopefully be removing it in a while and will check the number, I doubt that it will match the plate as looking at the frame the truck appears to be C60s and the data tags say it is C15.
