Mike,

Bloody awful story, but one I think all should hear. Having said that, I find myself slightly pissed at that BBC bint who kept trying to coax him into saying that he was abandoned. That's unpardonable, but I suppose now par for the course over there. A shame that the media have come down to this; yes, some never made it to the beaches, but the wee boats did take off 338,000, which is no mean feat.

Did you note how he mentioned the Germans' treatment of them on the march inland? Funny the bint never had a thing to say about that...

Default sad

Yes I thought it was a true insight into the event as told by one of the very last living vets of the time and place . And I agree , the treatment by the guards was much more harsh than I had thought previously. Imagine walking from France to Poland ..without food or water ... living off grass and flowers found -scrounged in fields . In the interview ,he came across as being such a reticent character as well , not boastful in any way .

Mike
