Found a supplier of data tags / plates etc.
Stumbled upon a guy on ebay who sells all sorts of data and ID tags for ww2 vehicles. The photo below is of set for Ford Blitz - electrical equipment.

You're dead right in suggesting that he comes from Poland, and yes he does produce some very nice data plates. I've just had a set from him for my early WC51, and requested them in Zinc, not the usual tin plate, and they are very good, took about a month to arrive. Mainly American plates Regards Keith
