How restore these crushed 2 gallons cans? Only for display. No to fill petrol oil or water. Thanks in advance!

I’ve got some in similar condition. I thought about building a framework around them then blowing them out with air pressure. But they are cheap and plentiful in Australia still so I haven’t got around to it.

Default Cans

From memory the Australian wartime manufactured cans are slightly higher compared to the Canadian/British made cans . I have a vague memory of people having trouble when fitting the Aust. made cans onto some CMP holders. Did somebody write a article on these cans ?

Well, i thinking inflate in each can a inner soccer inner tube , prior make a external wooden box to keep the shape of the can.....
It's just a theory that I don't know if it will work ...

Funny how what looks simple to fix can become a bigger then expected job to tackle. I think you are not taking into account stretching of the sheet metal while getting dented so that has to be taken in considered. You can make a form and inflate to see if that has any effect but you may have to go slightly oversize to bring back to original (no dented) dimensions. As you do not intend to fill with fluids and that they are just display pieces I would open the bottoms, dolly out what you can, maybe invest some time in making male/female dies from MDF and a pipe with the corner edge radius to press out the corners. Devcon epoxy the bottoms back in place (or solder).

That's what I'd do. Or if they fill bins in such a way that the banged in parts don't show I'd be OK with that too.
