Well my ambulance wears a 3, so I doubt that it would have been a 5
![]() That said, i'd have been surprised if it was as high as a 3 (I only know landies, not jeeps though)

Most were "5" even though a Jeep is only a class "3".
The lowest weight class of a bridge was "5". Therefore there was no real use of "3" on vehicles but some seem to have used it anyways.

Thanks for the info.I was able to read the threads using my modeler magnifying glasses. My question to you is 1)Where's Class 9 ?On Canadian FAT's,the designation could be either Class 5 or Class 9 !!.My only reasoning is that Class 9 would be including the limber plus 25 pounder in tow,and Class 5 would only include the FAT plus crew and accoutrements.Your thread has no Class 9 ??

Hi there
Now where in the world did THAT come from? It's an article I wrote about 8 years ago for a military vehicle newsletter I produced called MILIFAX. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see it, although it's a bit dated. I did eventually find the complete list of vehicle bridging data. Steve

Gary,
A Willys or Ford (or even Bantam) jeep would have had a bridge classification of 2. Keith |

As has been said, Jeeps during WWII have generally had a bridge classification of "2" but of course like all things military, you'll also see them with a "3", as well jeeps towing a trailer would have a "3/2" bridge sign, and as Jordan pointed out, some jeeps even had a "5" (esp. some AB-modified jeeps). Why they classified as a "5" I haven't a clue why, as I doubt you could get a jeep to weigh that much and still move
![]() Hope that helps, Tim

Hi Steve - I found this trawling on the net a couple of years ago. The Bibliography is at the end of the article. Bob |

HI
for some of you more confused people let me help you out. the 3/5 bridging palte was used for the airborne jeeps attached to the airlanding bde and the airlanding division (lowland). this was for the jeeps used to pull the 6lb gun. also the 5/7 was used for the morris when pulling the 17 lb ATG. i had to do lots of trips to the abn museum in holland to figure that one out.

we could do that now, 4 jeeps, 2 brens, a dingo, 2 T-16s, 2 15CWTs, a 6lb gun and some bikes (in texas)...... the problems are diffreng groups and too many vehicles and not enugh people.
