H there!
Well this is my latest toy. It's a Landrover Ser IIa 10 seater station wagon. One of only 25 aquired for the brass to go bush in. It was the only wagons they aquired before the "perrenti" type of Landrovers came into service. This type differed from the rest of the Ser IIa fleet where it is a militerised civilan model and had its head lights in the guards which also lacked the side cut outs that were a trade mark of the Australian Landrovers. It is believed that it was used in Darwin for one of the brass up there. Phil,
These vehicles were used at a number of schools around the country, mainly on the east coast, for bulk student moves to the field, ie TEWTS etc. Canungra Transport Unit had a number, for example. The one you recovered, looks in very good shape for an unrestored 35 year old company car. I'm in the process of doing one up - see pic. It'll probably end up being a CTU badged vehicle. Jack |

I have seen a picture or two of these rovers somewhere in our archives. I'll look to see if I can find any.
Also for those who may be unaware. I believe that the politically (in)correct term for a TEWT (tactical exercise without troops) is now a PENIS (Practical Exercise not Including Soldiers) |

Hi there Ian!
If you do track down those photos i'd realy appreaciate a scan off of them. I always tend to go for the different or rarer types of vehicles. Hence the 2 FFW's and the gun buggy. and "Dinty" I could never palm off a Landyrover off to any one... not even my worst enemy! ![]() JackM I would be keen to trade photos and info with you mate if you like? Any photos and or info greatly appreciated. PM me for my email addy... Now here is a inside shot... needs a good tub and some TLC. Phil... ![]()

Here is a Army PR shot showing a ser IIA SWB, 10 seater station wagon and a ser IIA ambo. One interesting feature of this shot is that the ambo does not have the brush guard fitted to it. Certainly a good shot showing 3 examples of Landrovers in Aust Army service.

I've seen a few photos of early ambulances not having the brush guard fitted early on. A good photo though, pity I can't see the ARN on the ambulance.

Well I can only see the last 3 numbers which is ***-952. Also remember this post circ 1971 or latter which is quite some time after the EMEI's comming out for doing the brush bar mod on all Landrovers not fitted with them.
Both my ser II's have had the brush bar mod 1 SWB and 1 LWB. Phil... ![]()

Not mine then, mine is 108-098
![]() My S2 (1961) ambulance has the bar as well, but it's obviously a later fitting. That said i'll be leaving it fitted. Also the technical drawings that I have a copy of for the S2 ambulances shows the bar fitted. I wonder if it was just a matter of fitting the bars later because of a shortage of them?

Phil,
I should have mentioned before, that I have a copy of the Station Wagon RPS. Although I need it for my restoration, I would be happy to scan/email you any diagrams you might need, if you restore this vehicle. Having just scrolled through your pictures once again, I am amazed at the completeness of your buy. Mine was and still is, missing a significant number of the smaller parts, which I will have to fabricate. Not too difficult, just a time consuming process. Jack |

Hi there Jack!
Well thanks for your offer... I will probly take you up on it as soon as I have worked out what info I need. I am waitiong for it to be delivered. Due anytime now. I have just got a ser 3 wagon via E-pay. even though there are difference it will be a great source of bits and pieces. If there is anything I can help you out with your restoration just let me know. I have seen photos of 1 restored down in Victoria but it has had some changes done to it. e.g. ser 3 door hinges etc. But all in all it does look like a nice vehicle. Interesting how your's has the cut guards, I have seen that on at least 1 other GS late series 2A rover that my unit had in Townsville around 81~82. Phil...

Hiya Phil,
You might have seen this pic - they are RAAF ADG - but nonetheless it shows what appears to be a late S2A with cut guards. My guards were knackered, so I found more and converted them to the straight guard. Jack |
