More, including the exhaust stacks...I think he should get some of those flapper valves for the top of the exhaust pipes...would scare the Bosch...

Default Fun, But Not Here.

big mike seems to be having plenty of fun.

He lurks on the fordbarn.com site now, since having been thrown off this site for such poor behaviour. He posted the following there, following a query from a mutual member about how he was getting on. As an excuse for getting punted from MLU he offered the following:

Posted by BIG MIKE from pool-72-74-229-216.bstnma.fios.verizon.net (72.74.229.216) on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 0:03AM :

Ja I usta been a member thier for a few years, Lots of cool vehicles including mine and others, But alass its run by a few knuckleheads from Canada, witch sum don't like Americans so I opped to leave , lol then I was tossed out , mmm Go figure. Paul thanks for posting that , But do you know what I say? Fk'em!! don't get me started mate Cheers BIG MIKE USA #1

This was followed by some good old fashioned Canuck bashing by a few rednecks.

We are better off without him - I hope he gets everything that he deserves.

The ultimate irony is that Tanknet, which IS international but primarily American-oriented, is run by a couple of Canadian officers (me being one), and THEIR rednecks, some of whom have served their whole lives in military service, and many in combat, like us just fine. I suspect the complainers you are referring to are the pretenders.

Too bad a nice carrier is owned by a loud mouth jerk.

i read some of his posts on the ford forum and he still does not get it. he was not ask to leave this forum for any one reason.

he was ask to leave for many.....
disrespect to the history of the canadian military
disrespect to the history of the aussie military
treason for revealing US military movements here on the open web prior to them being officaly released.
making threats to other MLU members
making a jerk of himself and demeaning others
trashing canada as a whole and insulting every canadian telling me how stupid they are for selling him parts.
sneaking back on the site and again being a jerk.

and for all my canadian, aussie, NZ, and anyone else who he has been offended by him all i can say is that im sory and all americans are not jerks.

I know more Canadian jerks than I do American jerks We've all got a few jerks, no matter what country we hail from, eh?

Thank god for nice people from all over the world that FAR outnumbers the jerks! And so many in MLU alone

Default language warning

Like my dad use to say,

" doesn't matter where you come from, an arsehole is an arsehole."

The great thing about being an aussie or a canuck or a yank is that we come from countries with a wide mix of peoples that have a wider mix of experiences ( which leads to so many good foods ). And MLU is one great mixing bowl to keep coming back to......hmm, what's cookin' today?

sorry for not posting a v8 tech ? but I had to say a few posts that people in Canada are taking from this forum and posting them on other forums, Shelly , The webmaster i'll be giving you a list of IP address and Names + emails of people IN ONTERIO and here in the USA infaltrating the fordbarn and using other peoples address and emails ILLEGALLY, They are probally watching and reading these posts as we speak, as One of them called a few/most of us Americans rednecks. in one of thier Canadian post on a Canadian web site. Talk soon

Anyway, hard feelings aside, BMs carrier doesn't look too bad, considering how he seems to like shortcuts. And it looks like he's got the color right.

Note to Big Mike: Shiney Brass fire extinguishers go on the inside of a vehicle. I realise that yours is a Mk2-1 interim changeover vehicle so you get some poetic liscence, but there are photos on the net showing where things are supposed to go.
I mentioned to Mike once that I thought he was Dyslexic....would that explain the ration box on the wrong side?

Anyway Mike, take her cool. Carrier is looking OK....you have helped save another one.

Folks Seems it happening again!!! people taking my posts on the fordbarn and putting them on this other web site and taken it out of text , this is mostly done by a few ONTERIO canadians and thier cronies throught Canada, you can see using thier search feature by punching up BIG Mike , the web site is www.mlu.up
I think the web master on that military Canadian web site page should be told this crap should not continue. and have control of his members and it also seems thier breaking thier own rules, by dignity and threating people by emails and defamation of Character on thier site ware I cannot defend my self Fordbarn never tollerate this kinda stuff as Shelly is our On the spot in control webmaster, I thankyou for the support. Cheers BIG MIKE USA#1 , and more than likely this post will wind up over thier soon. they just don't like Americans I guess.

Funny that the other Yanks on this site seem to get along.... and otherwise, I'm personal friends with many Yanks I've known since 1995 from Tanknet and its predecessor. I've been there and they've been here, and we're getting together in England in 2008.

Yeah, I guess I don't like Americans...

I called a US exchange soldior a Yank one time, and he corrected me by saying something about being from the other side of the mason/dixie line?
Whats that all about? And can a guy be a yank and a redneck? Or is redneck just for the guys from the midwest?

Boy, these topics sure can run strange courses.

Ah, a southerner, one who believes the American Civil War was actually The War Of Northern Aggression.

To people from other countries, the term "Yank" refers to all Americans. If you live south of the Mason-Dixon line, "Yank" isn't used as often as "Yankee", a perjorative which refers to those people who initiated the War of Northern Agression. I lived here in Texas for 5 years before I realized "Damnyankee" was two words! Today in the South, Civil War battles aren't reenactments, they are reengagements!

Interesting, the following exchange. I woke up to his message and replied accordingly:

Quote:
Mike,

Interestingly, the England thing has nothing to do with MLU and everything to do with Tanknet; most there will be past or current-serving members of US and foreign police forces or military.

Beyond that, I'm confused about whom you're referring to as "my trio". There is no conspiracy against you.

I will post this as per your wish.

Y'know, you don't have to read too far between the lines to realize that getting kicked off MLU is eating Big Mike up. Mike, you're the architect of your own misfortune. I'm actually sorry you are gone as I enjoyed your bluster and obvious joie-de -vivre. If nothing else Big Mike, you are a character but my advice to you is get over the MLU fracas, enjoy your carrier, and remember who won the War of 1812.

I have to say that I admire the personalised fuel can on the carrier, even if it does lack the possessive apostrophe

My use of the English language is, perhaps, not quite as refined as those accross the big pond so I had to look up "pratt".
All I found was " prat: n Slang. the rump or backside; buttocks".
Is this the correct interpretation for the name on the tin?

I'm willing to bet the tin will be turned the other way around for the next series of photos.

Ah, now this is a job for The Concise Oxford Dictionary, 10th Edition, Revised 2001; a lumpy reference tome of some 1708 pages and 2¼" thick, which would be 57.15mm for the metricated people; such is the exhaustive compaction of information therein that my reading glasses are demanded.

Page 1124, column 1, tells us:

prat. n. informal 1 Brit. an incompetent or stupid person. 2 a persons buttocks. - Origin C16: of unknown origin.

I can tell you no English nationals of the WASP lineage use or understand the definition 2 above and it has come as a surprise to me, however, it is possible that since the 16th century the understanding of "persons buttocks" has become "arse" and from there with the more recent "hole" added would make a similar understanding to 1 above.

Your best on-line reference for our vast armoury of quintessential British slang is here:

Default 6th edition

I have a 1979 6th edition , found in the local 'op shop' for 50 cents .

Do op shops exist in the UK ?

Therein lies my error, for I used the Gage Canadian Dictionary....."only $9.95" emblazoned on it's top right corner. At just under 50mm, the space saved under the Oxford version must be because of the missing English terms.

Ignorance is bliss.
