Measurements off photos

It's a rainy day so I've been playing on the puter. I figured I'd try to make plans for a 2A1 box based on the factory photos I have. In one of Greggs books it gives the overall length and width so I opened the pic in Photoshop and cropped it to the overall length of the box. Next I made the image size 79.5" which is the box length so the image is actual size.
Now to get a measurement I just crop the pic to the place I want to measure then look at the image size and it gives it to me in inches. Now hit step backward and you're back to the full size pic and ready to crop another measurement. It really works slick.
You'd have to start with a straight on shot for this to work but for those factory photos they were trying for the straight on shots so they work great.
In the attached image I cropped one of the flatiron setups on the side of the box and this is what the image size window told me.
If you wanted, you could crop it in 8x11 pieces and print out a full size image on about 33 sheets of paper. I think I'll do the full size one in wood though!
