Default TV Tank doco

There was an excellent doco on ABC TV yesterday arvo... I'm surprised none of the locals have commented ..it told the tank history story ..from the modified HOLT pre WW1 tractors to the current ABRAMS .

The narrator mentioned the French Char tanks main downfall was the single man turret ..one guy had to do just about everything .

Default Doco

Hi Mike, I caught that one too. Thought it was very good for a tank doco. The cold war doctrine was very informative. It used some footage from the terrific UK doco of the 1980s "Soldiers" narrated by Frederick Forsyth.

Default Very good

Yes I cought that one too and was impressed.

It's good to see restored/preserved tank footage in action used to demonstrate the sight and sound of almost extinct vehicles. I hoped at the end of broadcast thay may have mentioned where you can buy a copy of the documentary but no.

Cheers

Phill

Default doco

That doco showed some restored WW2 German tanks driving around .. probably Bovington.....the smoke from the exhaust pipes was startling to say the least.

They also showed the running Matilda 1 ..which I think has a later more modern engine fitted . I have another doco somewhere, they interview a chap who was in the BEF in those things.. they were blown to bits by the Germans in quick time .. lightly armed with just a machine gun ..no main gun at all.

Thankyou Ryan, and yes Mike that footage of the Matilda 1 was probably the highlight of the show.

Cheers
