Default Mysteries of F15A

There are any questions about details – but without answers.

1) On the backside of the cab 13, in the upper cab panel, there are two
holes next to the rear window on the drivers side (R.H.) – what for?

2) On the top of the windshield-frame, on the drivers side (R.H.), there is a little plate whit five holes – a fixture what for?

Thanks Manfred

From the bottom up - the hooks are to hold a canvas bag designed to hold the side curtains when not in use.

The missing decals (zinc plates on earlier vehicles) are: Lower one is the gearshift instruction and capacities of engine, cooling system, that sort of thing, then the square one above that is a warning about not using the front axle unless necessary for traction. The one above that was a location sometimes used for the vehicle ID with chassis type and build date, contract. This was sometimes located on top of the dashboard.

On the driver side - the one to the front of the vehicle is a warning about proper lubrication of the vehicle and the one at the rear is only for winch equipped trucks warning about running the winch cable under tension.

This is one you don't know you need yet - it goes on the radiator overflow tank.

Hi Keith!

Thanks for your answer!

Question 1: HOLES
These holes with bolts and nuts are in all the F15A.
In one case there is a clamp, but I don’t know if this is original.

Question 2: FIXTURE
We have some F15A with the same plate on the windshield-frame, do you have any idea?
This is not a single piece. On the picture is a postwar switch installed - not original.

Question 3: DECALS
In the engine housing are for each plate holes for screws or rivets.
There are no zinc plates only decals.

-Yes the lower one is the gearshift instruction and capacities of engine etc.
I have a readable example

-Yes the one above is a warning concerning the front axle drive.
I have a readable example to

-From the third over the last one, I have only the holes but not a picture with the content.

On the top of the dashboard are no decals or plates.

-I have a picture of a radiator overflow tank with a red decal.
I think the content is similar but not the ident, see the letters.

Question 4: HOOKS
Do you have a picture or a drawing from the canvas bag for the side curtains?

Best regards

Manfred

Hi

In a thread on MLU whose title was MYSTERY of F15 we can show pics took inside a cab .
Among these pics , one show a metallic part inside the cab and in front of the driver, right above the right windscreen. There was no answer about the aim of these part.
I have also rebuilt an F15 and I have the same part above the windscreen. (Contract : SM2685 built JULY 17 - 43
After 2 years would you have an explaination about the aim of the part? Surely a support for a switch but what else?
I join a pic of the part.

Best regards
Serge LEVY

Default FOLD DOWN SUN VISOR

Hi
I thank you for your answer and I would know il it was an original part or a part added after the war. During the restoration of the truck I only find the begin of a registration number begining by the letter Z (play load inferior to 15 cwt) meaning that this truck was used by british army.

Best regards Serge LEVY

Sorry for the small image - this is of an Australian built Chevrolet where they mounted it slightly differently.
