Need a couple of rocker cover gaskets for my C8, who would be the best supplier ideally UK based?

I'd do a quick web search for Chevy Stove-bolt suppliers in the UK I'm not sure which year they changed over to the edge bolts but basically any Chevy in the 40s is going to fit. Stay away from NOS gaskets they shrink on the shelf and are often not worth the effort of putting on an engine.
So try to get fresh cut gaskets, I generally only put the gasket sealant on the head side so that the covers can be removed for valve adjustment with out replacing the gaskets. Also when you glue the gasket down to the head it creates a little dam to hold the oil in. Take a look at 235 Chevy engines running on the test stand with the valve covers removed. http://www.canadianmilitarypattern.c...ineTesting.htm very little oil gets away. NOS gasket kits are fine for some of the smaller gaskets and the paper gaskets, but I've found that the long cork gaskets shrink as they dry out.

Many thanks Phil, will keep that in mind about the gaskets.
Had a look at the engine tests, interesting viewing. |
