Relating mainly to UK auto brands , this site has much everyday practical advice for the home fixer of many types of older auto electrics. I found it highly informative.

When all other test of the ignition system you fail ask some unsuspecting person to hold the coil wire while you crank the engine. This is a sure fire test of Lucas electrical parts. If the person jumps you have successfully replaced all Lucas parts if nothing happens then you've missed one.
My older brother had and Austen Healy when I was a kid. Guess who the unsuspecting dupe was?
