Can someone, please advise me what an RL diff ratio is. Is there more than 1 option?

In the user handbook issued Jan 1958, it gives 6.8 to 1 ratio.
There is no ratio given in the 1965 Service manual, but the R series parts list issued in 1971 has several diff options (ie superceded ones) but all at 5/34 = 6.8:1 i am aware of someone with a 1969 civilian model, ex-power board, who found the RL diff didn't fit it. I don't know what the problem was. hope that helps. Rob |

Thanks for that. I remember there was a special black oil for those diffs.

Hi Lynn
My RL operators book did not give a diff ratio ( perhaps I need to look again ) But Bedford TC and TD operators book 1958 gives a number of options for those models . One of these diffs would probably be used in the RL. Regards Jim S.
