Several M24 Chaffee light tanks were bought here for trials both in New Guinea and mainland Australia so it would not surprise me to find the photos were taken in Australia. The AWM has photos of these trials in North Queensland and the Islands. I have added one below

The rubber track is a post-war mod for M24, when were the trials tanks sent to Australia?
It looks a little like one of the desert training areas in the US to me.

Their were only 2 m24's sent to australia for trials in late ww2 and they are both still in exist over here today one is in the puckapunyal tank museum & the other is owned buy a collector in victoria currently getting restored to running condition with full no expense spared resto importing parts form usa

I wonder if it could be Greece?
Just looking at the scrub and such. I would have thought they would have gotten M24's post war, but have no proof or such to support it- just a theory! Either way, they are great pics to see! Thanks Ryan. Ian.

just a comment, the danish ones are not modified in any way.....
The norwegians ones have a new gun, engine and I think also transmission.

I had the same idea as Ian.....could it be Greece? And had the same idea as Adrian about the tracks. M24 tracks in WW2 were full steel ones.
I have seen pics before of M24's in Greece.....can't remember where I saw them, however....  Alex

Hmm....here is the website for the Greek ones....
http://www.white-star.nl/amazing_discoveries.htm Doesn't really seem to match Niels' pictures...the Greek ones show camouflage, while the pictures in this thread seem to show an M24 with remains of an overall Green coat. Alex
