Fascinating stuff, your RAAF dentists had a bit of "luxury" having a Snipe as transport........... dentists, that reminds me, book an appointment.......filling just fell out.........agghhhh.

I should have spotted the camo pattern, just assumed it was in your part of the world, but thought it strange that a Humber Utility was down there. Here is more on the trailer, if you are interested;
2 wheel Dental Trailer
Made by Light steel Sectional Constructions Ltd.
Body divided into reception, office and surgery. Fitted with dental chair, lathe, instuments, etc. Carrier fitted at front of trailer for tent, poles and pegs.
6.50-17 tyres
Length 19'2" overall
Laden weight ! ton 8.5 cwt

Default Dental caravan

hi Richard,

Thanks for the details of the dental trailer .

Being mounted on a single axle trailer makes me wonder how stable that oufit would be . The Humber would have enough grunt no doubt ( 4 litre engine ) , to haul it around at a good speed . At almost 20 ' in length . Would instability become a problem above 40 MPH ?

Dentists would be quite used to luxury I think . A Humber Snipe , just the ticket old boy .

It looks like it would be a handful, but no doubt they were never in a hurry. you are right about the engine, I am restoring a Snipe staff car at present, the engine being the same size as fitted in Commer trucks and Humber armd. cars, it has an easy life in the cars.

Incidentally, during your trawling through photos on web sites, I am seeking photos of Humber staff cars in RAF service during the war, please let me know if you come across any.

Default Humber pics

Richard

Haven't seen any pics of Snipe staff cars in RAF service . A restored Snipe heavy utility has appeared on a few UK TV shows in RAF blue , you probably know the owner .

A friend here is restoring a Humber FWD Heavy Utility , one of 3 known in the country . He has the remains of a Humber Mk 3 light recce car for spares . A few more are in NZ .

Have you seen the pic of the Humber snipes in Malaya circa 1941
